James Edward Holley’s military career is both extensive and diverse. He began his service in the Navy in 1989, where he was initially trained at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Illinois. Over the years, Holley has served as a Boatswain’s Mate, a Hospital Corpsman, and a Master Leadership Instructor. After a notable stint in the Navy, he joined the Navy Reserves and later transitioned to the Army National Guard following the events of September 11, 2001.
Throughout his military service, which was not consecutive and spanned several branches, Holley has been placed in a wide array of roles, including Medic, Combat Engineer, and Recruiter. He retired on October 1, 2017, as a Sergeant First Class in the Army, equivalent to a Gunnery Sergeant in the USMC, a Chief in the Navy, and a Master Sergeant in the Air Force.
